Unwrapping GivEnergy's New EV Charger

GivEnergy, a well-known player in the clean energy space, has uncovered its state-of-the-art EV Home Charger, designed to seamlessly integrate with GivEnergy's inverter and battery systems, allowing you to create a self-sustaining energy ecosystem that maximises the use of surplus energy.

The new GivEnergy solar EV Charger offers a game-changing solution to help you maximise your return on investment and get the most out of your renewable energy setup.

With the current environmental and economic climate, managing to charge your EV efficiently whilst harnessing the power of renewable energy sources has never been more sought after.

How does it work?

Electricity generated by the solar panel installation powers the home, and the surplus solar energy that would be exported to the grid is stored in the home battery storage system, then once the battery is full, it charges the car from the surplus, stored energy. Thus, extending the amount of solar battery storage that you can use and reducing the amount being exported to the grid.

This stored energy can be used at night, ensuring a continuous power supply for your home and EV. When your EV is charging, the system prioritises using surplus energy from your battery storage system to reduce your reliance on grid electricity, helping you save money in the long run and increase your return on investment.

Scheduled overnight charging when electricity is cheaper with tariffs like Octopus, so you can soak up the surplus energy during the day then charge your EV for much cheaper rates, at around 7p per kWh at night, to ensure charging is as cheap as possible.

Our first EV charge point installation pictured above, was added to an existing solar installation, but the GivEnergy charger is designed to work with third-party inverter systems via a GEM120CT meter or with a GivEnergy battery system via cloud connection.

The GivEnergy car charger comes with two RFID tags for secure charging, remaining locked until you tap the tag on the front, coupled with a 5m tethered cable and a Type 2 charging plug.

Wired with an EV Ultra cable, which has power and data cables included in one, is ideal for EV charging and solar inverter installations where CT clamps are needed.

Overall, this truly sustainable technology allows you to harness surplus energy, reduce your reliance on the grid, and keep your EV on the move for even less.
